About
The Break
We created Built In The Break to give athletes a platform to share their stories, showcase their journeys, and gain the exposure they deserve.
Our goal is to highlight the work, the sacrifices, and the potential that too often go unseen, and to build a community where athletes can connect, inspire each other, and grow.
Your story deserves to be told. Your work deserves to be seen.
Built In The Break was born from a simple idea: the moments when nobody is watching are often the moments that build you the most.
Being an athlete means more than what people see on game day. It means early mornings, extra workouts, setbacks, injuries, doubt, and sacrifice. It means missing nights out with friends, choosing sleep over plans, and giving up moments with the people you love because you're committed to something bigger.
But sacrifice doesn't mean losing the reason you started.
The love for the game comes first. It's the laughs with your teammates, the friendships, the memories, and the moments when you play simply because you love it. It's about working to get better while still enjoying the journey.
We also believe in knowing your value. As an athlete, it's easy to let one bad performance, someone else's success, or the opinions around you make you question what you're capable of. Built In The Break is a reminder to block out the noise, trust yourself, and stay focused on your own journey.
You don't have to become someone else. You just have to become the best version of yourself.
Built In The Break is a community built around the sacrifices, the stories, the friendships, the confidence, and the love for the game that make athletes who they are.
Because what you do when nobody is watching becomes who you are when everyone is.
That's what it means to be Built In The Break.
Meet The Founder

Horacio Vicioso
Founder, Built In The Break | Former Student-Athlete
Horacio Vicioso is a Dominican former student-athlete and the founder of Built In The Break, a platform inspired by his own journey through soccer, education, and personal growth.
He spent six years playing soccer in the United States at the high school, club, and collegiate levels, and his career also took him abroad, including time with Milan Soccer Academy in Colombia and the Defender Soccer Program in Costa Rica.
Soccer taught him discipline, sacrifice, resilience, confidence, and the value of constantly pushing himself to get better. It also taught him that the journey is about more than competition — it's about the friendships, the memories, the challenges, and the love for the game along the way.
While competing as a student-athlete, Horacio stayed committed to his education and graduated from college with high honors.
After stepping away from competitive soccer, he wanted to create something that reflected the lessons and values that shaped him. That became Built In The Break.
Today, his goal is to give athletes a place to share their stories, gain exposure, recognize their value, and inspire each other to keep growing. The game may have changed, but the lessons never leave.
